It’s quite the package, and the touch screen implementation and build quality look good, but in fairness I didn’t hear anything that might tempt me away from the arrangers it’s compared to, given it’s compared to much more expensive ones.īut the best thing about it may be the pressure it puts on Yamaha or Korg to start raising the bar of their arrangers in this price range. This is usually where you start to hear the truth. I’d really like to hear some converted styles played next to their Yamaha originals. How well does it deal with Yamaha’s Articulated style sounds (those are problematic on Korg’s and Roland’s) or does it work with maj/min/7th or maj/min/dim styles? And Medeli probably has some wrinkles that might be an issue. In ‘theory’ it works but there are still considerable differences between the style engines of even the Big Three that can lead to problems. It’s all to do with the Data associated within the midi as defined by that Manufacturer. Roland styles are generally quite good to convert although they have their own Format namely GS Midi. As always, your mileage may vary when it comes to style conversion. That’s why I use the Midiplayer for quick midi format change to styles and Midi.
